Can we make it 12 out of 12 for Nkineji

  • Can we make it 12 out of 12 for Nkineji

Keis Kipkel is a very determined young lady whom I met at Nkineji last week. Her brother had been put forward for sponsorship and has since been sponsored by the wonderful Joanne Hollamby

We did not have sufficient allocation to include Keis on the list this time, however, she realised this, she refused (very politely) in front of the teachers and the Head to leave the room (not an easy thing to do for one so young) until I added her name to the list. How could I refuse? I admire her determination to put herself in a position where she may be given the opportunity to continue her education and shape her own future. Keis is the third born in a family of 7, their home is extremely far from school, surrounded with wild animals, Keis relocated to stay with her maternal grandmother, who is not able to pay even the day school fee, her parents have nothing to sell or own no cattle that they can sell to get fee, her elder brother finished form four and is doing some casual jobs at the centre to feed his parents and siblings. Without a sponsor, Keis will have to leave school and seek work to try to help the family. Hopefully, we can find a sponsor to support this very determined, hard-working young lady to take control of her future.
