The first 60 hens arrive shortly!
The women of the Empowerment Centre will look after the hens, collect and sell eggs at the local market to raise funds.
The money will be used for hen food, to employ a night watchmen, pay the ladies a salary and support the Empowerment Centre.
Eggs locally, due to the remote location sell well and for very good prices.
If the project works well it will be expanded to produce more eggs which will in due course be needed for the bakery that is going to be built in the compound.
The bread and cakes that the ladies will be trained to make will also be sold locally as currently there is no one in the area that makes bread.
This should be a very profitable business in due course.
