This is Nayianoi, she is 11 years old.
She has not been to school for 3 years and someone recently noticed that she was missing from her village.
The police and local Chief found her in a very remote part of the bush in a sort of hostage situation where her family had sold her for marriage.
Thankfully we have been able to rescue her from the daily hard work, and before she was married or abused.
We now have to move her away from the area as she is an outcast and there is a risk the 50 year old man she was to marry will try and come for her.
Her rescuers have given her a wash and she is now wearing some of the clothes CTE’s generous supporters have donated.
We will take her with us tomorrow to her new life and CTE will pay for her to see the doctor on Monday as she is not too well.
Tonight for the first time ever she gets to sleep in a proper bed.
I have thankfully found a sponsor to pay for her school for a couple of years and Julie from California (an amazing and extremely generous supporter of women and children in the Mara) will allow her to stay in the rescued children’s safe house during the school holidays.
In a few years when she is in a better place and no longer at risk we will as with others attempt to reconcile her with her family.
