To the right of this photograph is William who is addressed to the assembled 1300 students teachers and parents after the wonderful dance display that was put on for us.
This was supposed to be a quiet visit to see our three sponsored students but once again the Kenyan hospitality took over and somehow I ended up also having to address everyone with no prior notice!
However, what stands out today is the emotion and pride at witnessing William who I took on as an orphan 18 years ago together with Jonathan who I took on at the same time who is also teaching at this school. They come from backgrounds that believed girls should not be educated, through high school and university to returning the Mara to teach at an all-girls school!
And it gets better, if that is possible as earlier today I met up with Jacob who Cookie sponsored through high school. These are the first three children we sponsored and it proves all the hard work, heartache ache and sacrifices over the last 18 years have been worth it… and I am not stopping now.
Education truly did give these boys a choice. If we had not done this their only choice was not to be educated and to spend their lives herding goats and cows.
Well done all three of you, we could not be more proud of you.
