These pictures are of Charity Mako who is temporarily in grade 6.
She was removed from a neighbouring school at the end of last year. Over the December Holiday of 2024, her father married her off, he got blankets and sugar in return, but the girl resisted.
Luckily, after a week she managed to escape from the so-called Husband and a good Samaritan met her out late at night and they brought him to Nkineji in the short term.
The photos are of when she first arrived and I met her today. She has nothing. The clothes she is wearing have been loaned to her by other students who have so little themselves.
The intended husband has tried to get her back as he has paid for her!
You can see how happy she is to be safe, in school, with food, and being able to be a child. The very basics she deserves.
She will never be able to return home and will need to be placed in our housing during the holidays until she is an adult.
Unfortunately without a sponsor, the school will not be able to keep looking after her. The cost of providing her with an education, fees, books, uniform, shoes, and the basics like soap, etc is £24 a month.
If you are able to help or maybe 3 people who would be able to share the cost that would be amazing.
